Local Update Server: Managing the Software Update Server

You can manage the Update Server via its web-based control panel called Update Manager (e.g. http://demo.eleckey.net/updatemanager.aspx). The following describes how to add an update package and add a product to the software update server.

To Add a Package

1.     Logon to Update Manager, and click the Packages menu.

2.     Click the Insert New Package button. A new record is created.

3.     On the new record, click the Edit button.

4.     In the PackageType drop-down list, select Full Setup.

5.     In the ProgramID edit box, enter the Program ID of your application.

6.     In the ReleaseTitle edit box, enter the release title to be shown by the Updater.

7.     In the ReleasedDate and ReleaseVersion edit boxes, enter the release date and release version, respectively.

8.     In the ReleaseID edit box, enter the Release ID obtained from UpdateShield Builder.

9.     In the DownloadURL edit box, enter the URL of the update package for download (e.g. http://demo.eleckey.net/update/subscription/testupd.cab).

10.  In the DescriptionURL edit box, enter the URL that provides the update information (e.g. http://demo.eleckey.net/update/description.html).

11.  Click the Update button.

To Add a Product

1.     Logon to Update Manager, and click the Products menu.

2.     Click the Insert New Product button. A new record is created.

3.     On the new record, click the Edit button.

4.     In the ProductName edit box, enter your product name.

5.     In the ProgramID edit box, enter the Program ID of your application.

6.     In the ProductTitle edit box, enter the product title to be shown by the Updater.

7.     In the FullPackage drop-down list, select the package you have created.

8.     Click the Update button.
