Floating Concurrent Licensing for Corporate Environments

A more flexible and cost-effective licensing solution for corporate users.

Floating or concurrent licensing is often preferred by corporate users since it offers a more flexible and cost-effective solution than node-locked licensing. With the provided NetKey License Server (NKLS), a pool of licenses can be allocated and shared among authorized users by which you can limit the number of concurrent licenses. The solution supports a variety of different corporate environments. You can deploy the NKLS on a local network, intranet, or virtual private network. In addition, the NKLS supports NAT (Network Address Translation), which allows you to deploy the NKLS over the Internet, on a public IP server or a cloud server.

Concurrent Network Licensing

In most corporate environments, the application can be installed on computers within the network without any license. The NKLS is deployed on a server. When a user runs the application, it makes a connection to the NKLS automatically and requests for an available license. The connection is maintained until the application is closed. Then, such a license is released and made available to other users.

Concurrent Terminal Server Licensing

In the Terminal Server (Remote Desktop) environment, the NKLS can be deployed on the same server as the application (or another separate server). While the application is protected, it must connect to the NKLS and request for an available license before allowing the user to establish a Terminal Server session.

Roaming License for Commuters and Off-Site Users

Check out a network license and roam free from the corporate network.

Roaming licenses provide greater flexibility and convenience, allowing the user to check out a license from the pool, disconnect from the network, and temporarily use the application off-site. The NKLS functions to administer the roaming licenses, which are deducted from the pool of available network licenses.

For Off-Site Users

The roaming license is basically a node-locked license with a limited borrowing period. At the end of the borrowing period, the roaming license is returned to the pool automatically, even if the user is still disconnected from the NKLS.

For Commuters

During the borrowing period, if the user runs the application and has access to the NKLS, the roaming license is restarted and extended automatically. This helps to facilitate commuters who often use the application between home/office, without having to check out the license frequently.

Flexible Deployment with Various Licensing Options

Deploy network licenses via Machine License or USB License.

You can choose whether to deploy network licenses via Machine License or USB License. LicenseKey Manager (for Machine License) and USB LicenseKey Manager (for USB License) provide various licensing options, including usage-based, time-based, and feature-based. So you can offer network licensed software in different versions as you want such as evaluation, subscription, or featured distribution.

Network Licenses via Machine License

Machine License offers the software-based solution in which the protection Key will be created automatically on the license server's hard drive. So you can distribute your network licensed software online via the Internet. To deploy the license server, the user installs the NKLS, and then runs the Register utility. When the user registers, you can issue a License Key (or serial key) that sets the number of concurrent licenses allowed for the software.

Network Licenses via USB License

USB License offers the dongle-based solution. You can make the USB license dongle that pre-defines the number of concurrent licenses allowed for the software. To deploy the license server, the user installs the NKLS, and simply attaches the obtained USB license dongle to the server.
