Activating ElecKey

Each individual copy of the ElecKey system must have a unique Key ID assigned before it can be used. After the installation, a registration with Sciensoft is required, which allows you to get a unique Key ID. The registration requires you to provide your name and organization/company name, as the licensee. In case of an individual licensee, you may enter your name and enter N/A in the organization field. Similarly, in case of an organization licensee, you may enter your organization name and enter N/A in the name field. A Machine ID and Registration ID will be generated and to be used for the registration on the Sciensoft website. After the registration, you will receive an email containing an Activation Key within 24 hours.

ElecKey provides two methods of activation. Automatic activation is the easiest and quickest way to activate your ElecKey. You simply need to enter your Activation Key. Automatic activation allows ElecKey to connect to the activation server and gets the License Key instantly. Note that your computer must have an Internet connection. Manual activation may be used if the automatic activation failed for any reason, or if you don't have an Internet connection. You can go to the Sciensoft website at any time to activate ElecKey manually in which you will receive an email containing the License Key for activation.

NOTE: Your registration name and organization are highly confidential because they are used to generate the Registration ID. It is very important that you do not disclose the registration information to anyone. Doing so might increase the risk that someone attempts to run ElecKey with your Key ID. This could jeopardize your protected applications.

NOTE: The Key ID for the evaluation version of ElecKey is always 1111111111. That means anyone who uses the evaluation version has the same Key ID. You should use the evaluation version for evaluation purposes only. Distributing the application protected by the evaluation version is not recommended because anyone can generate a License Key to unlock it. If you wish to securely distribute your application to the end-user, you should register for a standard license to get a unique Key ID.

NOTE: All information from your registration is kept confidential and will not be shared to any third party.

To Register ElecKey

1. Start ElecKey Integrator, LicenseKey Manager, or Key Inspector. The Registration Notice dialog box appears.

2. Click the Register button. The Product Registration and Activation dialog box appears.

3. Select the license type you wish to register. Then, click the Next button.

4. Enter your name and organization/company name in the entry fields provided. Then, click the Next button.

5. The dialog box shows a Machine ID and Registration ID, and requires the entry of License Key or Activation Key.

6. Click the Register button. You will be linked to the Sciensoft website on the registration page. (You can also go to the Sciensoft website directly at https://www.sciensoft.com.)

7. Follow the registration instructions on the website.

To Activate ElecKey Using Activation Key

1. Start ElecKey Integrator, LicenseKey Manager, or Key Inspector. The Registration Notice dialog box appears.

2. Click the Register button. The Product Registration and Activation dialog box appears.

3. Select the license type you have registered previously. Then, click the Next button.

4. Do not change the name and organization/company name that you filled in previously. Click the Next button to continue.

5. Enter the Activation Key you received in the provided field. Then, click the OK button.

6. A message “Activation Complete” is displayed. You can check your Key ID in the Status dialog box.

To Activate ElecKey Using License Key

1. Start ElecKey Integrator, LicenseKey Manager, or Key Inspector. The Registration Notice dialog box appears.

2. Click the Register button. The Product Registration and Activation dialog box appears.

3. Select the license type you have registered previously. Then, click the Next button.

4. Do not change the name and organization/company name that you filled in previously. Click the Next button to continue.

5. Click the Manual Activate button. You will be linked to the Sciensoft website on the activation page. (You can also go to the Sciensoft website directly at https://www.sciensoft.com.)

6. Follow the activation instructions on the website. You will receive a License Key via the email address you provided.

7. Enter the License Key you received in the provided field. Then, click the OK button.

8. A message “Activation Complete” is displayed. You can check your Key ID in the Status dialog box.

NOTE: To activate ElecKey using an Activation Key, your computer must connect to the Internet.
