Is ElecKey 2.0 compatible with ElecKey 1.0?
No, it is not. ElecKey 2.0 introduces new and improved security schemes to provide a higher level of protection to the application. That means, ElecKey 2.0 cannot generate License Keys for the application protected by ElecKey 1.0.
Will I get the same Key ID of my existing ElecKey 1.0, when I order ElecKey 2.0?
No. ElecKey 2.0 adds new and improved security schemes. Therefore, your ElecKey 2.0 will have a different Key ID.
What is the solution to manage license of the software protected by ElecKey 1.0 that is already distributed?
During the transition period, you can use both ElecKey 1.0 and ElecKey 2.0. Use ElecKey 1.0 to manage license of the application protected by ElecKey 1.0. And, use ElecKey 2.0 to manage license of the application protected by ElecKey 2.0.
It is recommended that you issue the application protected by ElecKey 2.0 as a new update release to the existing customers. This will help to transition the existing customers to use the application based on the new platform of ElecKey 2.0.
